Materials:
- Small amount of medium worsted weight yarn. I used 9 grams of Lion Brand Made With Love The Cottony One.
- US size G 4.0 mm crochet hook
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
Size (approximate): 4”

We’ll be working in continuous rounds for this project, which means you do not join at the end of your rounds. This technique helps create a seamless look, perfect for a smooth coaster surface.

Abbreviations (US):
- ch – chain
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- sc – single crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
- dc – double crochet
- tr – triple crochet (also known as treble crochet): Yarn over the hook twice. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over and pull the stitch through, leaving four loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through the first two loops. Yarn over and pull through two loops. Yarn over and pull through two loops.
- inc – increase (work 2 stitches in the same stitch)
- sl st – slip stitch

Cat Coaster Crochet Pattern
Round 1: Ch 2 and work 8 hdc into the 2nd chain from the hook. (8 sts)
Remember to place your stitch marker in the 1st stitch of each round. This will help you keep track of when you’re starting a new round, making the continuous rounds much easier to manage.
Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (16 sts)
Round 3: Inc, hdc in next st. Repeat from to around. (24 sts)
Round 4: Inc, hdc in next 2 sts. Repeat from to around. (32 sts)
Round 5: Inc, hdc in next 3 sts. Repeat from to around. (40 sts)
Round 6: Inc, hdc in next 4 sts. Repeat from to around. (48 sts)
Round 7: Sl st in next 17 sts. Ch 1, in next st work (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) all in same st, in next st work (2 tr, ch 1, 1 tr) all in same st, in next st work (1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) all in same st. Sl st in next 8 sts. Ch 1, in next st work (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc) all in same st, in next st work (1 tr, ch 1, 2 tr) all in same st, in next st work (1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) all in same st. Sl st in the next 17 sts.
